The Panaracer Race D Evo 4 is the 4-season option from the Japanese brand’s race lineup.
The tires features a 3D casing (Double Dip Duru Cover). That’s a fancy name of telling you that they offer dual breakers, the ProTite Belt sitting underneath the center tread, and a bead-to-bead one which reinforces the entire casing including the sidewalls.
That’s impressive, and certainly helps to prevent punctures and snakebites even more, making this a very solid contender and a high-quality all season option.
Panaracer Race D Evo 4 ride quality
Very similar in nature to the newer Panaracer Agilest Duro, the Panaracer Race D Evo 4 is a 120TPI tire with dual protection.
It’s the strongest tire of the EVO 4 series, with a ProTite belt puncture protection underneath the center tread as do the others, but with an added bead-to-bead casing.
The tires tries to strike a balance between maintaining its road racing nature while at the same time being puncture-resistant enough to quality as a 4-season, training, or winter tire. As such it’s comparable with other all-season tires like the Continental Grand Prix 4-Season, and Vittoria Corsa Control.
The ride quality, even with the added puncture protection, is impressive to say the least. I don’t think you’ll feel any difference between this tire, and let’s say a more summer oriented tire like the Continental Grand Prix 5000. Especially not when riding in the conditions the tire is meant for, which is less than ideal.
Panaracer Race D Evo 4 weight
The weight of the Panaracer Race D Evo 4 is a lightweight 260 grams for a 28mm width. That’s slightly heavier than the newer Panaracer Agilest Duro, but still pretty light for a 4-season tire.
The Continental Grand Prix 4-Season, what I feel is the gold-standard in 4-season tires, weighs 295 grams for the 28mm version.
Obviously those couple of grams won’t make a hell of a lot of difference.
Panaracer Race D Evo 4 puncture protection
The Panaracer Race D Evo 4 has the following puncture protection:

3D casing / ProTite Belt
The 3D casing is the strongest casing in the EVO4 lineup of Panaracer. It stands for Double-Dipped Duro casing, which means it’s more puncture resistant than Panaracer’s standard casings, and meant for harsh touring and 4-season conditions. The casing is furthermore strengthened with a ProTite belt running the entire circumference of the tire. This dual protective nature of the casing makes for the toughest tires.
