Panaracer Agilest Duro review

The Panaracer Agilest Duro is without a doubt, the most puncture-resistant, yet lightweight road bike tire on the market.

The puncture resistance differs markedly by including the ProTite Belt, a breaker Panaracer also uses in their touring tires. On top of that an extra bead-to-bead breaker covers the entire casing.

By adding the extra breaker, they’ve bumped up the weight just a bit, but the 220 grams for a 25mm version is incredibly impressive.

Panaracer Agilest Duro ride quality

The Panaracer Agilest Duro is the perfect combination of a supple tire with significant puncture protection.

The 120 TPI casing with Zero Slip Grip Agile compound is used for their best road bike tires, while the added puncture protection means a significant reduction of running a flat.

It means the tire maintains an exceptional ride quality, which inspires confidence in less than ideal conditions.

This tire cannot be the plushest tire out there. It’s not possible with this much protection being carried around. But as far as an 4-season tire goes, this one is up there with the very best.

Panaracer Agilest Duro weight

Panaracer makes very light tires, and the Panaracer Agilest Duro is the Japanese take on a puncture-resistant, all-weather tire. And 250 grams for the 28mm width 120 TPI sidewall reinforced tire with breaker is light indeed.

Besides the Panaracer Agilest TLR, it’s the only version that comes in a 28mm width. All the other Panaracer tires in the Agile lineup don’t cross 25mm.

A very similar tire would be the Continental Grand Prix 4-Season, which is 295 grams for a 28mm version, the Panaracer Race D Evo 4 at 260 grams, the Vittoria Corsa Control at 280 grams, or the much heavier Pirelli Cinturato at 340 grams.

Panaracer Agilest Duro puncture protection

The Panaracer Agilest Duro has the following puncture protection:

TF Super Outer Shield - ProTite belt

TF Super Outer Shield / ProTite belt

The Tough & Flex Super Outer Shield is a bead-to-bead layer, which reinforces the sidewalls and adds an extra protective layer underneath the center tread. The casing is furthermore strengthened with a ProTite belt running the entire circumference of the tire. This dual protective nature of the casing makes for the toughest tires.
