As a vintage mountain bike enthusiast I can tell you that we’ve come a long way from the first iterations of suspension forks from the early nineties.
In fact, we’ve come so far that it’s almost unimaginable that the first cross country races were actually done on rigid forks, and what we now call a front suspension for gravel bikes would be deemed downhill stuff 30 years prior.
With the diversity introduced into mountain biking and various disciplines coming to the forefront, the demands on front suspension came with it as well. That’s why you’ll see various topics being covered here, from forks for cross country racing and trail riding, to forks at opposite ends of the spectrum, meaning gravel and enduro.
By popular demand we’ve also included separate articles for those of you looking for a front suspension falling either in the lighter rider category or the heavier one.
