Mountain bike tires are traditionally associated with trail riding. However, since it’s widespread and tremendous rise in popularity in the early 90s, mountain biking has seen the birth of a great many other disciplines, like cross-country, downhill, and enduro riding.
Furthermore, older-style mountain bike frames have been repurposed into commuter bikes, gravel bikes, and as such there’s a great demand for non-trail options like slick, touring, gravel and commuter tires.
And even though 29 inch tires have all but decimated the competition, there are still many bikes out there in need of both 26 inch, and 27.5 inch tires.
