Cannondale is an iconic mountain bike brand, and the Cannondale Super V lineup has to be their most iconic one. Most definitely from a retro-perspective.
When introduced to the world in 1993 as one of the first mass-produced full-suspension bikes, there simply was nothing that could compare to the outlandish design. It made every other bike look drab in comparison.
I own a first-generation Super V, restored it and built it up from scratch to fulfill a childhood dream. Something that was so out of reach when I was a teen.
And yes, the front suspension has changed from 60 to 160mm. But it doesn’t take away from the fact that the original Cannondale Super V illustrates the pinnacle of 90’s mountain bike innovation, and is one of the reasons why that decade is viewed by so many as a golden bygone era.
In this article I’m going to provide the entire lineup from 1993 to 2002, starting with the Cannondale Super V 3000
